The members of the ForNe project (in German “Forschungskooperation Netzwerkoptimierung”) got the *EURO Excellence in Practice Award* for their work as reported in the book *Evaluating Gas Network Capacities* at the 28th European Conference on Operational Research held from 3.-6. July 2016 in Poznan.
The research part of the project was initiated in 2009 by Open Grid Europe (OGE, at that time E.ON Gastransport) Germanys largest Gas Transmission System Operator (TSO) and run until 2015. The project coordinated by ZIB involved about 40 researchers and practitioners from OGE, five universities, and two research institutes.
